##plugins.themes.bootstrap3.article.main##
Abstract
Batteries have been part of our lives for many years. They have been used in different applications from a simple calculator to electric vehicles, robots and satellites. Over time, various types of batteries have been manufactured with the aim of improving their performance. Currently, lithium-ion batteries have been used more frequently due to their high energy density, high energy effciency, and long lifespan. This work presents a summary of relevant aspects about lithium ion batteries. The developed article introduces the terminology related to the world of batteries. In addition, it studies the characteristics and tools that make lithium-ion batteries one of the most widely used batteries today. On the other hand, this study mentions relevant aspects of a battery management system, a necessary tool to safeguard the operation and life of the battery.
